December 2012

On November 30, 2012, I retired as a judge after more than five years on the bench. I am currently building a law practice, concentrating in federal and state criminal defense, including white collar, DUI, and every felony and misdemeanor in between. I also have a significant civil litigation background, including personal injury, commercial litigation, and employment discrimination, having done that exclusively for the first six years of my legal career, and beyond that mixed in with my criminal litigation experience. Over the past five years, I have not only gotten to know the Circuit Court of Cook County inside and out, but what judges like and dislike, and the difference between winning and losing arguments. I plan to use this knowledge to become an even better lawyer than I was during the 22 years I practiced before our supreme court appointed me to the bench.
